This article is to help individuals find the name of their computer.

Version

This will have information for both Apple and Windows computers.

Instructions

For Window devices:

  •  When logged into the device
    • Right click on the Start Menu icon. Select 'System'. In the About window that pops up, you will see Device Name which is your computer name.
    • Open Start Menu. Select settings (the gear icon). Select System. Select About. You should see Device Name which is your computer name.
  • Not logged into the device '
    • In the user name box, type .\ . Under the password box, it should say 'Sign in to: ' with your device name here.

For Apple devices:

  • When logged into the device
    • Open Settings app. Select General. Tap About. You should see Name with your device name.
    • Select Apple Icon in top left corner of screen. Select About This Mac. Select More Info. You should see Name with your device name.
