How Do I Find My Device's MAC Address?

Summary

This article covers the topic of how to find the MAC address for common devices seen on a network.

Body

Application/Service/Description

A MAC (Media Access Control) address, sometimes referred to as a hardware or physical address, is a unique, 12-character alphanumeric attribute that is used to identify individual electronic devices on a network.

Since MACs can be represented in different ways, here are some examples of MAC addresses:

AB:CD:EF:12:34:56

ab-cd-ef-12-34-56

abcd.ef12.3456

Note: Many devices have multiple MAC addresses, so consider your device and whether you'll be connecting via an ethernet cable (wired) or over a wi-fi network (wireless) before selecting yours.
